Kipling Lodge was opened in June 2014. Up until now, Kipling Lodge has been built with the full support of the local community of Namakwanda.

Kipling Lodge has a unique design, resulting in an encounter between two continents, exceptional fine work, and dozens of skilled artisans countrywide.

Kipling Lodge construction materials have been locally sourced in Uganda, from Kapchorwa, Fort Portal, Kisoro, and Kotido. Kipling's "jungle estate" accommodates more than a hundred bird species, vervet monkeys, iguanas, and otters who occasionally come to this facility.

What to do in Jinja town in 2026/2027?

Jinja tour

Jinja City is situated on the shores of Lake Victoria, at the source of the Nile. As a result, it is the distinguished destination of East Africa's adventure capital. In addition, Jinja boasts a rich architectural legacy and a lively past. In addition to it being home to some excellent Indian and local restaurants, it is Uganda's second largest city and a major commercial hub.

Amani farm tour

Explore our gardens for a morning stroll around our farm. Discuss topics such as agroforestry, zero-waste economies, pest-free food, permaculture, and sustainable soil management. Find out more about how we grow not only the veggies you consume but also pepper, tobacco, hibiscus, turmeric, ginger, vanilla, and even how we turn our organic waste into eggs for breakfast.

Community boat ride

It all began with the Nile River; take a boat ride on the powerful river to view the beautiful sunset and allow its force to calm your spirit. Our staff, working with the local fisherman, will make sure you have a private discussion with them, whether you want to do it with a fishing rod or with a bottle of wine and some snacks. In addition to being given a life jacket, you will be able to safely observe the waterfalls upstream.

Water sports

The river provides rafting, kayaking, and tubing, among other thrilling sports, if you're in the mood for some excitement. We are pleased to help you make reservations for your upcoming trip with some of the top Nile service providers.

Riders on the Nile

Four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul." Whether you prefer a bike with an engine or pedals, Jinja is surrounded from the Mabira Forest to the Isimba dam—an ideal riding playground. If you need to rent a bike or even prefer an antique horse for your ride, our staff can help you get in touch with service providers.

Vanilla tour

Ugandan vanilla growers are helping to save the country as its vanilla production increases. To create a vanilla pod, the growers must manually pollinate each vanilla flower. Meet vanilla farmers with Enimiro Uganda, an agro-business that helps farmers produce high-quality goods in a sustainable manner.
