Hyena Hill Lodge is about 35 kilometers east of Mbarara via the Mbarara-Masaka road. If you are around the Sanga gate of Lake Mburo national park, look for a dirt road with the Hyena Hill Lodge green signpost. Stay on that dirt road for approximately 11 kilometers until you reach the lodge.

Getting to Hyena Hill Lodge depends on the road conditions. From Kampala or Entebbe, it takes between 4-5 hours, and from Mbarara, it takes approximately 1 hour.

There are many options aside from driving around Lake Mburo, such as walking, cycling, and horseback riding. There’s also a fantastic boat trip if you are interested in getting up close and personal with the Lake Mburo freshwater.

The best time to spot general wildlife is in the drier months, from June to September and December to February. However, Lake Mburo National Park can also be visited in the wetter seasons, from March to May and October to November.
