Mount Napak is ranked as the third highest mountain in the Karamoja region and is famous for its steepness and lush vegetation, which makes it the toughest to hike among the Karamoja mountains. Due to its strategic location near the Pian Upe Wildlife Reserve, tourists can enjoy the breathtaking panoramic views of the Karamoja Plateau and other mountain ranges from a distance.

Mount Napak’s steepness makes it hard for people to live. Therefore, the Karamojong people and Iteso people live at the foothills of Mount Napak. The mountain provides these people with food by hunting for small wild animals and having their farm gardens in the fertile foothills.

The night before hiking Mount Napak and trekking, we set camp at the foot of Mount Napak, which takes a 2-hour drive from Soroti town. Mount Napak hikes are carried out by experienced local guides, and porters are also available for hire on request. Food, snacks, water, and camping gear are included.
