Mountain gorillas inhabit the forests near the high mountain peaks of central Africa. The mountain gorilla population is divided in two, with over half of the living mountain gorilla population in the Virunga Mountains, which border Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and the remaining mountain gorilla population living in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park in Uganda.
