Silverback Lodge provides sweeping views of Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park. Virunga chained mountains; Bwindi forests, which are home to roughly half of the world's remaining mountain gorillas; non-habituated chimps; over 100 other mammal species; 346 bird species; and more than 163 tree species.

 Support the local Pygmy Batwa community, which is a tourist activity in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The Batwa community trail includes hiking through the dense tropical forest past stunning vistas and the serenity of Uganda’s ancient rain forest. Along the way to the Batwa community, you will watch live demonstrations of how the Batwa used to stay in the forest and how they use local herbs to heal many diseases.

Ride 4 a Woman: Ride 4 a Woman is guided mountain bike rides that help this woman’s group and, in turn, their families. Riders are always escorted during their rides around the forest and villages on well-maintained bikes. The Ride 4 Women tour takes up to 3 hours or less. Silverback Lodge now offers new mountain bikes and mountain biking.

Visit the Bwindi Hospital, which is a wonderful facility that offers access to proper medical care for the impoverished communities near the park, with special emphasis on the Batwa pygmies. Donations are encouraged, but they go straight to the communities.

The Popular Waterfall Trail hike provides attractive features of the Bwindi dense forest, with a profusion of tree ferns, a variety of bird species, orchids, epiphytic ferns, and Bwindi’s colorful array of butterflies. The Bwindi waterfall hike trail leads travelers to three delightful crystal-clear waterfalls.

Bwindi impenetrable forest protects over 346 bird species, and 90% of them are Albertine Rift endemics that are difficult or impossible to see in any part of East Africa. The best time to visit Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is between June and September, and then again in December and February. These are the dry months, with the best chance of sunny blue skies and clear days, perfect for wildlife viewing and mountain gorilla trekking, although showers are always possible.
