The name Anyadwe came from the local Acholi language meaning “daughter of the moon” which was given to Florence Baker by the Acholi people of Uganda, wife of the historic explorer Samuel Baker who spent time together exploring within the Nile River in the 1880’s. 

Visiting the top of Murchison Falls National Park should be one of the first activities, just like most visitors do to tour the top of the falls. The Murchison Falls form when the Nile passes through a narrow gorge that makes its way to Egypt. Murchison Falls is arguably one of the world’s most powerful waterfalls, after Victoria Falls.

A boat cruise takes place at the bottom of the falls. This is another popular activity while at Murchison Falls National Park and is similar to the boat cruise at the Kazinga Channel of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Murchison Falls boat cruise takes about 3 hours, beginning and ending at the bottom of the falls.

Boat ride to the Nile Delta: The Nile Delta is the spot where the River Nile connects with Lake Albert. The boat cruise to the Nile Delta involves further going upstream beyond the normal point where the boat cruise normally makes a turn. The Nile Delta cruise requires half a day and is a must-do activity for birders.

The best time to visit Murchison Falls National Park is in the dry season, from December to February and from June to September. This is regarded as the best time to go for game drives, boat cruises, Nile Delta cruises, and chimpanzee tracking when the trails and roads are dry.
